Our Story

Wildseed is a Chicago-area native landscaping and green infrastructure development company founded by Malcolm Mossman. As an urban planner and environmental consultant who worked with communities throughout the Midwest, he saw how native gardens and green infrastructure could effectively and affordably mitigate flooding, improve biodiversity, protect local air quality and beautify spaces for both municipalities and homeowners. The only problem was that people needed help planning, funding, installing, and maintaining projects - and existing contractors did not offer these services for native gardens and green infrastructure.

Wildseed wants to buck the status quo. Operating as a business collective, Wildseed leverages existing networks and partnerships to help communities develop, design, build, and restore green infrastructure using native plants to create beautiful, functional, and resilient ecosystems. Our team of experts is committed to creating ecologically sound and aesthetically pleasing landscapes that benefit both people and the environment.

What is Wildseed?

Wildseed is a collective that supports the rapidly growing demand for native gardens and green infrastructure among homeowners, municipalities, and non-profit organizations. Our mission is to foster ecological and community health and climate resiliency by building partnerships, programs, and projects that meet the unique needs of urban, suburban, and rural communities. Wildseed provides Chicago area residents, businesses and municipalities with a suite of products and services that support the development of native gardens and green infrastructure. This includes installation and maintenance, garden consultation, native plant sales, and technical assistance for municipalities seeking to develop larger green infrastructure projects.
